Whangarei Heads is one of New Zealand's most beautiful and interesting areas. As yet almost undiscovered, known as 'the hidden gem' and lying just a few kilometres east of Whangarei.

Whangarei, is a mere twenty minute drive away. A lovely harbour town with style, character and a host of facilities such as theatres, cinemas and a variety of restaurants with international themes. The parks are flawless and include tree top height walkways (Reed Memorial Park), a rose garden and Whangarei falls. Not to be missed is the town harbour basin for a cafe meal, or a look around the unique gift shops and museums.

The town basin marina is a great setting for relaxing beside the harbour front, alive with yachts from all over the world. Built in a traditional style it has loads of character and hosts museums and shops as well as excellent cafes and restaurants.

Naturist beach facilities:
45 minute drive, and south of Whangarei, is Urititi beach, a well known
naturist
location with beautiful sands and safe bathing.
Only an hour or so from Eden Homestay is the Bay of Islands with it's plethora of history including Waitangi, where the treaty was signed, and the town of Russell, the original capital of New Zealand.

Lovely smuggler's bay, a mere twenty minute drive to the start of the walkway leading over the hill to bring you to this quiet and scenic spot. There are an abundance of such safe beaches within five to fifteen minutes drive from Eden Naturally, each with its own special character ranging from rugged and rocky to sheltered and sublime. |
The magnificent Mount Manaia, peeking above the early morning cloud, seen from Parua Bay, is also visible from Eden Naturally. Mount Manaia stands guard at the entrance to Whangarei Harbour.
